Your child is introduced to the alphabet with letter recognition and formation activities. Each letter of the alphabet is presented with colorful illustrations that detail proper stroke sequences. The letter writing exercises guide your child in proper letter formation of capital and lower case letters. The writing exercises mirror your child’s growing fine motor skills by progressing from very large letters to smaller letter formations. In addition, your child will learn to distinguish between letters that are often confused for one another.

Your child is introduced to the phonetic sounds that accompany each letter of the alphabet already learned. Your child will become familiar with the sounds produced by each letter through various letter-sound selecting/matching activities.

Your child will learn to combine the phonetic sounds to form simple phonetic word families. Your child will be delighted to form basic words from the phonics already learned. Rhyming word activities will further aid your child’s grasp of the basic word families.

Your child is introduced to the most frequently used sight words that are critical to early reading and writing success. Through a series of writing activities, your child is introduced to frequently used words in a relational way. Common opposite words are presented together. Words that address body parts, family members, clothing, action and animals are also presented together. Your child is also introduced to the concept of adding an "s" to form plurals. Finally a series of activities helps your child to understand as well as read and write the words: "and", "or", "my" and "your".
